Before and After...Computer chair
I have a very dear friend, Janet, who left Social Work a few years ago and started a business called Dirty Deeds. She does clean-outs ...as in home and office clean outs. She seems to most often do clean outs for seniors who have spent many years in their homes and are now moving into Elderly Housing; or the families of people who have died and have the tough task of sorting through a loved one's things.
Even before she started the business she was always on the look-out for furniture and usable items for the people she worked with. She provided furniture, appliances and often good quality clothing to her clients. (She was in the Adult Mental Health field)
Now ,with the business she is in , she still is able to donate a large amount of things to people with mental health issues who are trying to make it on their own.
Often the clients she services through Dirty Deeds just want her to dispose of the old furniture and miscellaneous goods she carts away. Janet has always been an avid recycler and can't bring herself to throw away anything that could be of use to someone.
I have often been the happy recipient of things she could find no other home for. I have also been known to say, with love, "Janet...that is something that belongs in the dump!"
This chair is part of a set that found it's way to my house. At first I thought there was no rescue for it. I'm not a big fan of the mid-century modern style.
But, oh man, it was comfortable! It definitely needed at least a paint job and seat recover.
It still doesn't really go with anything in my house, but I don't want to use anything else at my computer! It's quirky and whimsical enough that it can stand alone, I think.
Thank you Janet, my friend.
